General Education Core Curriculum
Each candidate for an Associate in Science degree shall satisfactorily complete a minimum of 59 credits in General Education.

Under the specified General Education headings
below, the following courses are recommended:
- Communications- 14 credits
- Written: 9 credits
- Required courses: English 101, 102, 103 (grade of " C" or higher required)
- Oral-. 5 credits
- Required course. Speech 100 (grade of "C" or higher required)
- Physical Life Sciences: 10 credits
- Select at least one course from Life Sciences and one course from Physical Sciences.

- At least one course must have a laboratory component.

- Recommended courses: Chemistry 151, 152, 153; Earth Science 101, 102, 103, 105, 110, 115, 140 (and more); Physics 251, 252, 253
- Mathematics: 5 credits
- Recommended courses: Mathematics 231, 232, 233
- Humanities/Fine Arts: 15 credits
- Select at least one course from Humanities, one from Fine Arts, and one from either.
- Please note: Only one foreign language course may apply for General Education credit while additional foreign language courses will count as elective credit toward your degree.
- Earn no more than 10 History credits in Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences combined. Additional credits in History may be earned as General Elective credit.
- Recommended courses: Foreign language courses, especially German and Russian, are recommended. One or two years of a foreign language may be required at your transfer school; refer to the transfer institution's catalog.
- Social and Behavioral Sciences- 15 credits
- Three courses must be selected from at least two disciplines.
- Additional Coursework
- Students are strongly advised to consult with a faculty adviser and/or the transfer institution in selecting 22 General Elective credits.
- Additional A.S. Degree Requirements
- These can count as either General Education Core Curriculum (in the Humanities category or the Social and Behavioral Sciences category) or as Additional Coursework credit, whichever applies.
- Human Relations: Complete one course
