* Until 800 PM EDT.
* At 711 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles northwest
of Charleston, or 10 miles southwest of Decatur, moving east at 40
mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
* Locations impacted include...
Riceville, Madisonville, Englewood, Mount Vernon, Clear Water,
Hillsview, Athens, Etowah, Niota, and Tellico Plains.
This includes Interstate 75 in Tennessee between mile markers 39 and
54.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay
away from windows.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for east
Tennessee.
