As we finally begin to escape the icy grasp of old man winter, things here at the AMS are heating up as well. We have a few upcoming events that we would like to announce, beginning with our next meeting.

Our next formal meeting will be on Tuesday, March 25th at 7:00PM, in room BIC-3504 (the classroom). One of our faculty members, Victor Gensini, will be presenting on “Potential Changes in Late 21st Century Severe Weather.” Dr. Gensini's dissertation research will take a look into the potential changes in severe storm frequency and distribution across the U.S. as simulated by a Global Climate Model. We are also pleased to invite the Chicago AMS chapter to join us for this event.

We will also be holding a bake sale on Monday and Tuesday, March 24th and 25th. Please look for us in the second floor SRC hallway at the college, across from the Starbucks, where we will be from 10:00AM to 1:00PM both days.

Outside of our chapter, there are a number of upcoming events and conferences that we would like to inform you about. The IA-National Weather Association 2014 Severe Storms and Doppler Radar Conference is on March 27th through 29th in Ankeny, IA. This is the Thursday - Saturday prior to Spring Break for COD.

The Tornado and Severe Storm Seminar with Tom Skilling will be on April 5th at Fermilab. This will be the 33rd year the event will be hosted at Fermilab, and we hope to have an AMS presence there as well. This seminar is free of charge!

While this is a ways out still, it's also worth mentioning the 27th Conference on Severe Local Storms, which will be November 3rd through 7th.

If you have interest in any of these events, let us know and we'll see what we can do about attending them as a group. Otherwise, we hope to see you at CoD later this month for our next meeting.
