February 9, 2013

On Tuesday, February 26th, Mike Zuranski will be presenting on Dual-Polarization (Dual-Pol) radar technology. Weather service radars across the country have recently been given the Dual-Pol upgrade, with only a few sites remaining on the waiting list. This recent deployment brings with it new, powerful radar products that provide a wealth of information to forecasters and weather enthusiasts. Mike will introduce this cutting edge technology, along with these new products, and show how they can be used to improve your forecasting and nowcasting abilities. It's sure to be an informative talk, so anyone who calls themselves a weather geek should absolutely attend!

The AMS will also be conducting a Bake Sale at about the same time as Mike's talk, February 25th through the 27th. If you would like to donate some baked goodies, or help us man the table, we would greatly appreciate it. If you would like to buy said goodies, well we'd appreciate that too. Get in touch with us and let us know if you're interested.

We also have a few 2013 wall calendars left, but seeing as it's already February it's more than fair to offer them at a discount. Either way, they're full of some really cool photographs, and you would be helping to support our club, so if you'd like one please let us know.

Last, but certainly not least, let's talk Storm Chasing Apparel. We're getting ready to order t-shirts, hoodies and hats, so we're asking you to let us know if you're interesting in some attractive, albeit slightly geeky clothing. The designs are the same as last year, however we will also be offering year-specific 2013 Storm Chasing t-shirts. We have two different designs to choose from, but sadly I am unable to provide a preview at this time. What I can tell you is that they are pretty slick, and I'm buying a few myself. Send us an email or see us in person for more information or to place an order.

That's all for now. Stay classy, and we hope to see you on the 26th for some Dual-Pol fun!
